Las Vegas - a Mountain and a Tech Run

Another lazy morning - I could get used to this! Breakfast of Special K with dried berries, apple sauce, yoghurt and milk - it is delicious. And one of Gilles' coffees - also delicious.

Then it's a drive up to Mount Charleston - another beautiful natural spot that many of the Las Vegas tourists would never see. There's actually snow at the top - in Nevada!

It's quite a lovely drive, and different to Spring Mountain the other day.

There's an alpine village type place along the way where we stopped for some toast and eggs - and as I've had before, eggs on one plate, toast on another, butter on another.

You can sit right at the bar and play the pokies...

There was a notice on the board as you came in for a missing man - please contact the police, or his wife... Bit weird.

Lovely views of the mountain from the balcony here.

The nice couple who asked us to take their photo and took ours in return turned my camera the wrong way...

We drove back down the mountain and then to visit Wal-Mart, to see if we could see any Wal-Mart People, like in the YouTube photos yesterday - ie trailer trash types. Hilarious in their badness photos. The closest we got was the 60-something cashier with a gold ringlet wig and the heaviest makeup seen off the stage. We did find a great Cleopatra costume for Nikita.

She did say, as she out it on, "I look great!" And she did. Very cute.

Back home to do some laundry and call to confirm the tour starting Friday morning, with an overnight at the hotel tomorrow. The girl on the phone said I should be there now, it was starting tomorrow - so that threw me out, cos I was sure it was Friday. She did eventually say it was Friday but I was a bit worried. So I rang the hotel, just to make sure and yes, it was Friday.

I was folding the laundry and handed Leigh a pair of Nikita's tiny school shorts, daring her to see if she could fit into them. She almost got them on - then she just looked like a Person from Wal-Mart and we laughed a lot!

Off to pick up Nikita and we did have a big case of the sillys, laughed even more. Back home and here's modern-day life.

Gilles headed off to work (for those who don't know, Gilles is a drummer with Cirque du Soleil), Zoraida (babysitter) arrived and we set off to the theatre, stopping on the way to pick up some dinner. At the theatre, tried a Tootsie Roll - it was not what I was expecting at all.

It's tech night - sound checks, sorting costumes, props, staging the sets, etc and then a walk through act one. It's Guys & Dolls and there are some great character voices - Nicely Nicely and Nathan. Miss Adelaide is great too.

It's really nice to be sitting in a theatre, just watching all the processes of a show coming together. Haven't done that for a while.

I have sore cheeks from laughing too much today...!
