Up early and so excited to roll up and pack the jammies for the last time! Won't have to do that again for the foreseeable future!! Then down to one of the supposed best-known breakfast spots - Eggs N Things for breakfast. And I go with the pineapple pancakes with banana and coconut syrup. It is ridiculously large - about six pancakes, and a mountain of whipped cream. And I only make a dint in it.
Back to back up, a final look out on the balcony, a final look down at the beach, a final check of everything - managed not to leave anything behind! At all. Check out and on to the shuttle. Lovely driver. Again I'm in the front seat, being a party of one, and he's chatting and is really nice.
To the airport. Quite a confusing place. The self-check in thing doesn't like my credit card and so I have to get help. I do wonder what happened to all the people who used to do the jobs now done by machines...
Through, and now we wait...
They have just opened the boarding and asked for priority and people with little children to board. There are a stack of Aussies (being a Sydney-bound plane) and we all remain sitting. I love this about Aussies - we don't automatically jump up to stand in a long queue, like the Americans do. We'll all get on in time. Much more laid back!
Onto the flight. I'm sitting next to the gay hairdresser from Cronulla and we have a great chat. Watch a couple of movies - for the life of me, I can't remember the first one. 40-year-old Virgin was the second. Read a bit, had a revolting meal - they have no idea of vegetarian.
At one point there's some turbulence and the crew have to sit down. I hate that!!!
Land and through, new ePassport thing whoops us through in no time. It's GREAT to go into the loos and see a 'vacant'/'engaged' sign. GREAT to have the shuttle bus driver between international and domestic say 'g'day'. GREAT to hear the guy over the intercom say, "B23 from T3 is chokkas." GREAT to be driven on the left hand side of the road and GREAT to get orange $20s out of the ATM.
What I won't miss is tipping, rolling clothes up and packing them every time, trying to work out how to turn the shower on and how to turn the hot or cold water on. What I will miss is the adventure and amazing experiences!
Until next time...!
